Spring is coming to Boston, which gives locals plenty of reason to celebrate as the snow melts. The large snowbanks won’t keep Bostonians from their famous Saint Patrick’s Day Parade, of course, as volunteers have been working hard to clear piles of white from the route. Join the tradition on Sunday, March 15 at 1PM in Southie (South Boston) for the annual parade.
From March 24 – May 10, the Big Apple Circus will be awing crowds with their Metamorphosis show, where you will ‘be transported to a realm of enchantment and illusion’ by talented jugglers, horses, trapeze artists, clowns and more from around the world.. The whole family will enjoy colorful costumes, live music and laughs at City Hall Plaza.
Celebrating the ‘bizarre and insane,’ the annual Boston Underground Film Festival (BUFF) runs from March 25 – 29 at Brattle Theatre in Harvard Square in Cambridge. The festival began in 1998 as an all-night film marathon, and quickly grew to the first annual BUFF, which has since been a yearly event. With 22 films over five days this year, film buffs are sure to get their fill of creativity and inspiration. Passes are available, as well as tickets to individual shows.
Starting March 28, whale watching cruises will leave Boston Harbor to the Stellwagen Bank, a protected marine area about 25 miles east of the city. Spot these massive, magnificent creatures in their natural habitat on a tour, guided by naturalists and marine biologists.
