The Black Sheep Restaurant with full bar, named in honor of the Engine 7 firefighters, pays tribute to the history of the building and the self-proclaimed ‘black sheep’ of the Cambridge Fire Department. Found on the street-level of the Kendall Hotel, the restaurant follows the Victorian-era theme with early-American décor and fireman regalia. With warm colors, plenty of natural lighting and delicious smells from the kitchen, the Black Sheep Restaurant will satisfy the senses, and of course, appetites, of guests staying at the hotel or those just popping in for food or a drink.
The restaurant’s lunch and dinner menus feature classic American dishes, as well as innovative twists to home-style cuisine with ample choice for meat eaters and vegetarians. Sophistication through simplicity, the menu items are made of carefully selected organic and locally grown produce. The chef insists that fresh, quality ingredients are the basis for any nourishing meal. From the bar, enjoy a cocktail, beer from a local brewery or wine from a carefully selected winery in the United States.
A full breakfast buffet (suitable for a fireman, of course!) is served daily. Breakfast is complimentary for all hotel guests, and $14 for non-hotel guests. Stocked with homemade scones and granola, muffins, bagels, cereals, and hot breakfast items including scrambled eggs, sausage, bacon and seasonal dishes. Fresh juices, coffee (regular and decaf), and hot tea are also available.

Contemporary art can be enjoyed at MIT’s List Visual Arts Center, or on a walking tour through campus. There are several public art displays to enjoy, as well as architecture by Frank Gehry, Eero Saarinen and Fumihiko Maki. The nearby Cambridge Multicultural Arts Center has rotating exhibits from around the world, cultural events and a free summer concert series.
Many parks and green spaces are scattered throughout the neighborhood, and the Square offers outdoor concerts in summer and ice skating in winter.
